With the coming of a new year there is a lot of talk concerning resolutions. This always makes me think of one of my favorites from church history, Jonathan Edwards, and the resolutions he wrote as a young man concerning his life in God.
Many new year’s resolutions fizzle out quickly–and are often related to superfluous things.
If you need some resolution for the new year, try some of these...

The Macalope Weekly: Debatable | Macworld →
Another great Macalope Weekly with content like…
This week we look at things that are debatable, just perhaps not in the way that some people intended. For example, can anyone at Business Insider look themselves in the mirror each morning? Debatable. Also, are online debates where readers vote for a winner worth anything? At all? Debatable. Finally, if a scandal can’t be pinned on Apple,...

Second, I compared the Kindle Fire and the Nook Tablet. Side by side, identical movie playing in perfect sync from the same Netflix stream.
There’s not a shred of doubt: The Nook Tablet’s Netflix video looks a lot better.
Now, without the side-by-side comparison, you wouldn’t complain about the Fire’s video....

We live in a three-dimensional world. Our hands are designed for moving and rotating objects in three dimensions, for picking up objects and placing them over, under, beside, and inside each other. No creature on earth has a dexterity that compares to ours.
The next time you make a sandwich, pay attention to your hands. Seriously! Notice the myriad little tricks your fingers have for ...

This is my favorite photo of Steve Jobs. Leaning forward to connect with his wife after his keynote presentation at the 2011 WWDC. You can almost feel the relief and accomplishment radiating from him.

Gruber on Flash FMS 4.5
I have been preaching this message since I built my first CDN (!!!) (content distribution network):
This is the wrong approach for video publishers to take, though. They should be sending HTML5/H.264 video to any user agent that supports it, and only falling back to Flash Player for user agents that don’t support HTML5 and H.264. Flash Player should be the fallback exception, not the other way...
